  Tastes just like corn dogs at the state fair—the best corn dogs you can cook at home. A family favorite for sure!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 cup vegetable oil
  2. 12 hot dogs, halved
  3. ¼ cup cornstarch
  4. ½ cup all-purpose flour
  5. ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  6. 2 tablespoons sugar
  7. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  8. Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  9. ½ cup milk
  10. 1 large egg


Instructions:

Step:NO:1

In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

Step:NO:2

Mix the cornstarch and hot dogs in a big basin and toss to coat.

Step:NO:3

Place the hot dogs on lollipop sticks and keep them away.

Step:NO:4

Mix flour, cornmeal, sugar, and baking powder in a big basin; add salt and pepper to taste.

Whisk the egg and milk together in a separate bowl or a big glass measuring cup. Using a rubber spatula, gently swirl the mixture over the dry ingredients until it becomes moist.

Dredge hot dogs in batter, working in batches, until well coated. Add 4 or 5 at a time to the skillet, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they are evenly brown and crispy. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels.
