Spicy tofu burgers recipes

 Hot Tofu Burgers! Indeed. A flavor-bomb burger made of crumbled tofu, lemongrass, sriracha, and fresh herbs that has been browned.

Ingredients:

Burgers:

  1. 1 block extra firm tofu
  2. 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  3. 1–2 tablespoons sriracha (for medium or hot, add more sriracha)
  4. 2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
  5. 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  6. 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  7. 1 shallot, very finely minced
  8. 1 tablespoon lemongrass paste
  9. 5 tablespoons all purpose flour
  10. 1 teaspoon salt

Burger Toppings:

  1. buns (toasted, please)
  2. sriracha
  3. mayo
  4. carrots
  5. cucumbers
  6. bell peppers
  7. more herbs


Instructions:

Step:No:01

Use a tofu press or simply place a heavy pan on top of your tofu and press the water out for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step:No:012

Using a spoon or your hands, mash the tofu until it becomes crumbly. Stir in the other ingredients for the burger. Shape into four patties.

Step:No:013

Set oven temperature to 350 degrees. To make the outsides of the burgers nice and browned, first fry them in a skillet with a small amount of olive oil. After that, place the burgers in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the outsides are firm to the touch. (If you wish to cook the onions and peppers at the same time, you can add them to the pan with the burgers.)

Top toasted buns with mayo, sriracha, and fresh vegetables and herbs (extra credit if you make quick pickled veggies—they're very good!).
