Chicken Katsu in the Air Fryer with Homemade Katsu Sauce

Crispy on the outside and soft and juicy inside, this is air-fried chicken katsu. The sauce wonderfully balances the chicken's flavor profile, with a hint of sweetness and sharpness. Serve with rice if you'd like.

Ingredients:

  1. Katsu Sauce:
  2. ½ cup ketchup
  3. 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  4. 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon sherry
  6. 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  7. 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  8. Chicken:
  9. 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast, sliced in half horizontally
  10. 1 pinch salt and ground black pepper to taste
  11. 2 large eggs, beaten
  12. 1 ½ cups panko bread crumbs
  13. cooking spray

Directions:

Step:No:01

Assemble the components.

Step:No:02

Get the sauce ready: In a bowl, whisk together ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic until sugar dissolves. Put aside the katsu sauce. Set an air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

Step:No:03

In the interim, arrange the chicken pieces on a sanitized surface. Add pepper and salt for seasoning.

Step:No:04

Beaten eggs should be put in a shallow bowl or flat dish. Transfer bread crumbs to another plate that is flat. Coat chicken pieces with bread crumbs after dredging them in egg. Dredge the chicken in egg and then bread crumbs once more, making sure to press down on the bread crumbs to ensure they adhere to the chicken.

Step:No:05

Put the chicken pieces in the air fryer's basket that has been warmed. Apply nonstick cooking spray to the tops.

Step:No:06

For ten minutes, air fry. Using a spatula, turn the chicken pieces over and mist the tops with nonstick cooking spray. Cook for an additional 8 minutes. Slice the chicken after moving it to a chopping board. Put some katsu sauce on it.
